Product Overview
Calcium turnings are silvery-white light metals with a soft texture and high chemical reactivity. They have a density of 1.54 g/cm³, a melting point of 839±2°C, and a boiling point of 1484°C. Calcium turnings react vigorously with water and acids to produce hydrogen gas. When exposed to air, they form a protective oxide and nitride film, preventing further corrosion. Upon heating, calcium turnings possess strong reducing properties and can reduce nearly all metal oxides. They are mainly used in alloy manufacturing, metallurgy, and other chemical processes.
Features
- Soft texture, easy to handle and process.
- Forms a protective film in air, effectively preventing corrosion.
- Strong reducing properties, capable of reducing metal oxides.
- Highly reactive, reacts with water and acids to produce hydrogen gas.
Applications
Calcium turnings are widely used in various industrial sectors:
- Metallurgy: Used as a reducing agent in steel and non-ferrous metal refining for deoxidation and desulfurization, improving the purity and quality of metals.
- Alloy Manufacturing: Employed in the deoxidation process during alloy production, enhancing alloy characteristics.
- Petrochemical Industry: Used as a dehydrating agent in oils and other chemical products to remove impurities and moisture.
- Electronics Industry: Utilized in electron tubes as a gas-absorbing agent, effectively improving the purity and stability of the internal gases.
